Fairwell, iPad

Cole Blankenship

I traded my iPad for an Apple gift card today. I never felt that the iPad fit into my digital life. It was just there on the bookshelf or my nightstand, most of the time with a nearly dead battery. I have no regrets.

It feels good to have just my Mac desktop and my iPhone. Going to my desktop to work, blog, or look something up feels more efficient than pulling out my iPad. It’s also more reminiscent of the 2000s when we all got up and went to the computer. I like that!

wrote something similar to this on my old blog a few months ago when I traded my iPad Mini and M2 11” iPad Pro for an iPhone 15 Pro Max that replaced my iPhone 11. Likewise, I was happy with just having an iPhone and an M1 MacBook Air until I wasn’t.

Fast forward a few months, I was missing my 11” iPad. Here’s what I missed: not having it as a second TV and for occasional reading though I prefer reading on my iPhone.

So, a few weeks ago, I caved and bought an M2 11” iPad Air. My partner works from home, and the TV is a no-go during the day. So my iPad and AirPods Pro are my daytime TV replacement.

I’d completely agree with Cole if it weren’t for needing that second TV: an iPhone and a MacBook cover all my needs.
